Orlando has some great water parks most of which are superbly themed, beautifully landscaped and lots of fun. Lockers are generally available for your valuables and you can also rent towels. Check before you bring your own snorkels, flippers, masks, rafts or innertubes - some parks prefer that you use their equipment. Coolers may be brought in, but alcohol and glass containers of any kind are prohibited. Good waterproof sun block (SPF 30) is essential and don't forget to re-apply every hour or so. Finding ample shade at waterparks can be a problem so any more than 3-4 hours might be
overdoing it in the hot summer months.

Blizzard Beach

Only Disney could take a somewhat bizarre concept and make it work this well. Blizzard Beach is billed as a rapidly melting ski resort where chair lifts and ski jumps have been put to unusual use. Guests now surf the slopes and shred the peaks on rides like Toboggan Racer, where they fly headfirst down the side of Mount Gushmore. You can ride a chairlift back to the top where you'll also find Summit Plummet, one of the world's highest free fall slides - that lump in your throat is actually your swimsuit! Kids will love Tikes Peak where they can fool around on mini icebergs and smaller slides designed just for them. The whole family can ride a giant tube on the twists of Teamboat Springs, while more adventurous individuals can try out Runoff Rapids or Snow Stormers, which are both great fun. The wonderfully named Slush Gusher, another very speedy descent is also a big favorite. The Double Dipper (no ice cream though) is a downhill racer with one rider competing against the other for the fastest time (keep one eye on the clock to see how you're doing). The much more sedate Cross-Country Creek Creek on the other hand floats you through ice caves and under icy waterfalls!

Typhoon Lagoon

This time it's a tale of a huge storm and a ship stranded high on a mountain by a giant wave. Welcome to Typhoon Lagoon!

It's a 56 acre tropical tanning zone that’s blessed with a big 4 foot surf wave that runs the entire length of the 2.5 acre lagoon every few minutes. When 'Miss Tilly' blows her stack its time to either ride it like a pro or bob like a cork! Snorkel Shark Reef for some added thrills - relax, they’re the harmless variety. Landlubbers can watch the action through the portholes of an old shipwreck. More daring souls have to try the Humunga Kowabunga - it's guaranteed to make your swimsuit disappear and is consequently a popular gathering place for amused onlookers!

Castaway Creek involves no thrills whatsoever, just a few gentle ripples as you zip around the park at 2mph, while Ketchakiddee Creek is where little people under 4 feet tall hang out and enjoy their own pint sized pools and slides.

Take your pick - Gang Plank Falls, Keelhaul Falls or the recent addition Crush ‘n’ Gusher - all very creative ways to get the whole gang from top to bottom in as many different ways and at as many different angles as humanly possible!

Wet-N-Wild

Located in the International Drive Resort Area, Orlando's original waterpark is a great day out for all ages with the emphasis on multi person rides that groups can enjoy together. After lathering up with sunscreen, load the family onto phenomenal four passenger rides like the Flyer, a 'bobsled' run, or the Surge and the Bubba Tub where everyone gets a good soaking! All 3 are full of drops, twists, banked curves and have a big wet finish!

Smaller kids have their own very safe miniature playground to swish around in, with mini versions of the parks big thrill rides. Lifeguards are constantly watchful and soft rubberized surfaces protect little bottoms from scrapes and bumps. Bigger kids of all ages can have their fun in the huge wave pool where you can rent tubes to float around on.

The Blast is a raging ride along a ruptured pipeline – a man made disaster you can share with a friend! The Lazy River circles the West Side of the park at a very leisurely bob so basically all you have to do is lie there and bronze! Knee Ski also involves circles, though you're travelling a lot faster and you can also try wake-boarding on the WakeZone Cableway! Daredevils will also want to have a go on Der Stuka (the name says it all!) and the Bomb Bay, where the floor is literally pulled out from underneath you!

The Storm guarantees you some bumpy weather as it blows you round and down, before an unceremonious dunking to finish. Disco H2O meanwhile is a 70’s flashback complete with big bell bottom curves and disco lights so get on down with the whole family! While BrainWash involves some water-filled group therapy on a six-storey extreme tube ride with a 53-foot vertical drop into the 65-foot domed funnel. It’s your prescription to mind blowing thrills!
