With the everchanging rides and shows at each of Orlando's theme parks,
we have your inside scoop on what's new and hot before it even opens!

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

The Simpsons - Opening Spring 2008

© Universal Orlando

The world's most popular dysfunctional cartoon family are coming to Universal Orlando. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson -- stars of TV's long-running series -- will ride along with guests in a new mega-attraction opening in Spring 2008.

Guests will be rocketed along with the Simpson family on a hysterical, almost unimaginable adventure. They'll experience a side of Springfield previously unexplored as they enjoy the new ride's interpretation of thrill rides, dark rides and "live" shows that make up a new fantasy amusement park "Krusty Land" dreamed up by the show's cantankerous Krusty the Clown.

The attraction will feature the show's classic humor and many instantly recognizable characters -- all voiced by the original actors. "The ride is designed to duplicate the Simpsons home-viewing experience, only at high speed and with lots of screaming," stated Matt Groening, who created the Simpsons over 20 years ago.

The new Simpsons attraction will replace the closed Back to the Future: The Ride in the World Expo section of the park and will use the 80-foot-tall movie screens and motion-simulation vehicles. For the Simpsons ride, the motion devices will be toned down to offer a smoother ride and all elements will be upgraded to the current state of the art.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Opening 2009

© Universal Orlando

Warner Bros. and Universal Orlando are partnering to create the world’s first fully immersive Harry Potter themed environment. Envisioned as a "theme park within a theme park" and titled "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter," the new environment will become part of the experience within Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Inspired by J.K. Rowling’s compelling stories and characters – and faithful to the visual landscapes of the films -- "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" will provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the magical world of Harry and his friends. The fully immersive, themed land will enable guests to visit some of the most iconic locations found in the books and the films including the village of Hogsmeade, the mysterious Forbidden Forest, and even Hogwarts castle itself. "The plans I've seen look incredibly exciting, and I don't think fans of the books or films will be disappointed," said J.K. Rowling.

Expected to open in late 2009, the new environment will feature immersive rides and interactive attractions, as well as experiential shops and restaurants that will enable guests to sample fare from the wizarding world’s best known establishments. Also debuting will be a state-of-the-art attraction that will bring the magic, characters and stories of Harry Potter to life in an exciting way that guests have never before experienced.

The Academy Award-winning production designer Stuart Craig, who has worked to bring the world of Harry Potter to life in all of the feature films to date, leads the creative design for the area to ensure it remains faithful to the look and feel of the films.
